Press Publisher 4.0 Is Here

We are proud to formally announce that Press Publisher will be releasing a completely new system in the coming days. This was a critical step for us to accommodate the growth we have seen over the last year and provide the ability to scale in both usage and features.  We are confident that this new system will truly shake up the publishing industry, and frankly, we are only getting started.

We have taken great strides to build a new platform from the ground up to meet our growing expectations of the service we offer.  This is a direct result of feedback and support from users like you.  In addition to a lot of new features and functionality, the new system provides incredible depth and versatility that we didn’t have before.  While we have added new features and flexibility, we have tried at all times to continue to maintain a truly simple user experience.

What’s Next?

We have a lot of work to do to get all of you onto the new system.  Many of you have customized your templates.  While our new templates are based on the original HTML from the current system, there are going to be changes and we will need your help to get your old site up to speed.

IMPORTANT STEPS TO REVIEW

When we make this migration, here is the process we will be following:

1. We will be turning off the CMS so you will NOT be able to edit your magazine website on the old system.  We will make every attempt to keep this timeframe as short as possible.

2. YOUR LIVE WEBSITE WILL NOT GO DOWN!  You just won’t be able to change it until the migration is complete.

3. We will migrate the content to the new system.

4. You will be provided with a staging area to see the your site on the new system.   You CAN edit your new site here and those changes will be live when we flip the switch.

5. IF YOU HAVE MADE CHANGES to your templates, things may not look quite right.

6. If things DO NOT look right, you should contact us IMMEDIATELY via email (support@presspublisher.com) and we will modify your new templates so they match the old one’s.

7. If you have only modified your CSS Styles, you will be good to go and will likely not need to do anything.

So What’s New?

That is a loaded question because there is a lot of elements that we have changed fundamentally in the system.  With this new release, we will start the process of providing a wide array of Video Tutorials.  Some items of note:

  • Multiple Publication Management
  • Shopping Cart System With Digital Downloads
  • Article Comments
  • Directory System (with optional Paid Basic or Free Listings)
  • Greatly Enhanced Calendar System (with optional Paid Basic or Free Listings)
  • Various Member Submissions (Events, Directory and Articles).
  • One Window Magazine Management
  • Unlimited Sections (previously we only had Departments, Columns and News)
  • Unlimited Pages & Subpages (CMS)
  • More Flexible Advertisement Management
  • Better/Comprehensive User Controls
  • More Flexible/Expansive Templates
  • Multiple Article Levels (Public, Private and Premium)

Thank You All!

Your support of Press Publisher has been invaluable.  We are so excited and exhausted about this new release and we hope that is provides all of you with more tools to see your online publication grow and flourish.

I like the look and feel of completed sites. But, as a first time usser of your site who is trying to build a site, I can’t figure out how to get to the toolbar….

    So far… frustrated…

Tutorials - make sense if I could find the toolbar application.

  5. admin Says:

    Hi JLP,

There isn’t a “toolbar application”. The toolbar is automated (or controlled in the templates). You or a designer can modify it manually, but you need to know CSS and HTML. I would say that you might want to contact us and we will be glad to help. It can be tricky for a non-technical user, but, that is why we are here.

Why do you need a techy or web designer? Well, if we automated everything, our system couldn’t create everything. Automating things brings with it limitations. We are striving to be able to replicate the very best online publications on the web. Frankly, some things can’t be automated.

That said, we will gladly work with our publications to meet their needs.
